Report: Russia, Turkey mull gas hub project at expert level
ANKARA, Oct 31 (PRIME) -- Moscow and Ankara are discussing creation of a gas hub in Turkey at the level of experts, Russian ambassador to Turkey Alexei Yerkhov said in an interview to Turkish daily Dunya published on Monday.
“As I understand it, our countries are discussing this issue at the level of experts right now, and details are very important here. We will receive the information as soon as an agreement is reached,” he said.
Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan earlier ordered the governments of both countries to work out creation of a gas hub in Turkey swiftly and in detail. The hub could be used to transfer transit of gas from the Nord Stream pipelines to the Black Sea region, and Erdogan thinks that Europe could receive Russian gas through Turkey.
